On Sep 12th 2024 – “Floral Thursday”, at Glee – Terri Jones, MD at Joy of Plants, took to the stage to help the Industry to “Grow New Gardeners” from new-build owners, suggesting that:

 – There are lots of younger people starting out at new-builds, with an empty fenced-off square of grass

 – There are ways to reach out and attract these people to your Plant Area

 – Right now though, typically, if they do come to your Plant Area, they either leave in confusion, or they buy a plant and it dies on them – and either way, that’s a lifelong customer lost

 – There are ways instead to ensure they go home with a plant that just grows and flowers, and so starts them on their gardening journey, becoming a new loyal customer
