Wholesale plant range comes to Joy of Plants

Press Release

Oct 15, 2025

A LEADING UK supplier of outdoor plants is now contributing plant data for their Walberton’s® range into Berkshire-based Joy of Plants’ plant library and retail tools. They are in good company, joining well-respected suppliers such as Wyevale Nurseries, Seiont Nurseries, Whartons Roses, New Leaf Plants and Kernock Park (among others) as Joy of Plants data contributors.

Established in 1972, Farplants Group is a co-operative of four West Sussex growers each with their own specialism. The group grows over 11 million plants a year across 2,000 different plant varieties. Whether the growers sell the plants themselves, or via Garden Centres, Joy of Plants’ retail tools such as Plant Finders for phones, Kiosks, the web and Bed Cards make the all-important plant information available to staff and customers, securing sales and plant care thereafter.

British bred, the Walberton’s® varieties are trialled and tested for years at the Walberton Nursery to deliver the best performing garden favourites. They are exclusively grown and distributed by Farplants.

Marc Jones, Managing Director of Farplants Group and Walberton Nursery said: “We are very pleased to support Joy of Plants with information and imaging of our Walberton’s® bred varieties to better inform people who use the system that these plants are available. We are immensely proud of our varieties which are recognised across the world and supporting Joy of Plants is another way of sharing the message that these great UK bred varieties exist.”

Marc’s standout plant of 2025 which was added to Joy of Plants’ library is Euphorbia ‘Walberton’s® Little Treasure®’, launched by Farplants in this year. “A cheerful foliage plant with lots of character, to brighten borders or pots with zesty yellow green leaves, dipped in copper. Really easy to look after, it’s suitable for any garden space, no matter how small.”

Terri Jones, Managing Director at Joy of Plants, said: “The tools we’ve built around our library provide an easy way for retailers to give staff and customers the information they need about plants they sell, and the Care Products to use to help them thrive.

“We have a wide range of plant breeders and growers contributing information about their new plants every year, and it’s great to welcome The Farplants Group and the Walberton’s® range into the project.

“Our Plant Finder for phones and touchscreen kiosks bring this information into stores, so that staff can help consumers choose exactly the right plants for them, and our Bed Cards convert browsing shoppers into buyers. We also now provide our plant & care info, including Care Product recommendations for each plant, inside retailers’ Loyalty Apps.”

Terri’s choice from Farplants exclusive range is Gaura ‘Walberton’s® Gold Fountain’. “A star of the cottage garden with gold edged leaves and dazzling white blooms that flutter like butterflies in the breeze. Long flowering, it’s a magnet for pollinators spring to autumn.”
